Last month, Visit Philly announced a Valentine’s Day proposal contest as part of their popular With Love Philadelphia XOXO™ campaign.
Jeremy Kaplan (above), the winner of the contest received help planning his surprise proposal, a personalized engagement message in the With Love-style emblazoned on the side of a Philadelphia Trolley Works trolley, a $5,000 Hearts on Fire Acclaim ring provided by Bernie Robbins Jewelers, an overnight stay at the Hotel Monaco Philadelphia and more.

Here’s Jeremy’s Winning Entry to the With Love Marriage Proposal Contest:
Philadelphia brought us back together. We were acquaintances in high school and didn’t keep in touch through college. While both attending graduate schools (Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania), a mutual friend who was here on business insisted we get together one summer evening while the West Philadelphia Orchestra was playing at the Penn Museum. The courtship involved friendly dates, drinking with friends at Frankford Hall and even Jeremy telling Emily he wasn’t interested while at a Phillies game that Emily bought tickets for. Eventually, a storm brewed in Jeremy’s mind as he realized his mistake. Mayor Nutter said for everyone to “stay home” while Hurricane Irene raged outside, but Jeremy didn’t listen. Braving the elements, he drove to Emily’s apartment to ask for her back. After an evening of convincing, she accepted. Fast forward to the present day and the two live together in Fairmount and enjoy exploring new restaurants, going to Phillies games and being active in the Spring Gardens, while also staying involved with various charities.
