This past Summer I had a really bad stress-induced acne breakout and although my skin has cleared up there are still a few visible acne scars. Recently, I was on the hunt for good dark spot correctors that work well on brown skin, I came across this amazing DIY remedy from celebrated eyebrow king and make-up artist Damone Roberts.
If Eyes are the Window to the Soul Then Damone Roberts is the Gatekeeper
And because branded dark spot correctors can cost up to (and sometimes over) $100, I was more than happy to find a two ingredient at-home solution that won’t ever cost more than $10.
DR’s DIY Dark Spot Corrector Recipe
Ingredients:
Application:
Wash your face. Mix a small batch of honey and nutmeg into a paste. Apply it to your acne marks or dark spots and leave the mixture on for about 20-30 minutes (keep a napkin nearby as the paste may start to run). Rinse.
If you add this as a regular step in your cleansing process, your acne scars and dark spots should fade away over time.
Why it works?
Nutmeg has been used for centuries as a powerful health aide and it is used here because of it’s anti-inflammatory properties. On the other hand, honey acts as an antiseptic which destroys and prevents the growth and return of infection-causing microorganisms (aka, things we don’t want on our face).
