Alicia Keys officially launched her Pinterest page last week after months of anonymously curating and pinning over 600 inspiration images.

The majority of her 21 boards are dedicated to songs from her latest album, Girl on Fire, providing a visual representation of each song’s lyrics.

Keys told Mashable:

“I’ll admit — I’m a bit of a social media junkie and I’m so excited to move into the world of Pinterest. I can’t wait to … bring everyone into my creative space through pictures and vibes that express the ways in which my songs came to life.

It’s such a cool platform for me to explore as an artist because these unique boards are really going to let you all visually feel the themes behind the album.”

Launching a Pinterest account that focuses on her latest album and a few of her lifestyle interests (she has boards for fitness, home, etc) is a great idea.

Over the last year or so, Keys has been slowly commanding more control of her digital footprint and her foray into Pinterest is an example of that.

It’s another way for her to interact with her fans and give them a different perspective on how she creates her art.

Will be interesting to see how she leverages this platform.

However, I have to say that I appreciate that she took the time to really think about what she wanted to communicate visually rather than just selecting a dozen images and haphazardly creating a few boards.
